Our local PTA believes that informational presentations should be provided to parents, including presentations about the harmful effects of high-stakes testing and data sharing. Our local PTA believes that parents should be made aware of options including opting-out and refusing tests. The NYS PTA has recently acknowleged that although the NYS PTA does not support the opt-out movement, they would not prohibit thoughtful discussion about this controversial issue at PTA meetings. Our local PTA supports informational meetings on opting-out of state tests, and our name is listed below.
